There are just five steps involved in obtaining a Reverse Mortgage:
Step 1: The first step in the Reverse Mortgage Process is to determine how much money you may qualify for. We can
help you with that either over the phone, or in person, it’s your
choice.
Step 2: We would then like
to consult with you, preferably in person, to see if a Reverse
Mortgage makes sense for you. If you are comfortable involving
others, we encourage friends, family members, and/or children to
also attend the meeting. We will discuss the amount of equity in
your home, your financial requirements in the foreseeable future,
your future goals, outline the costs and benefits of a reverse
mortgage, and also answer any questions you may have about reverse
mortgages.
Step 3: Next we ask that you meet with an independent,
qualified, government counselor. We can help you with that process
by providing the names and phone numbers of the counselors in your
area. This consultation is usually done in person, but if necessary,
can be done over the phone. This service is free to the borrower.
Step 4: We order a title search and an appraisal on your
home.
Step 5: If this approach
still makes sense for you, we request the loan documents to be
drafted. We meet with you again in order to explain The Truth in
Lending Laws, and we’ll review the loan documents with you. Once
executed, we order a check and you can expect payment within three
workings days.
